Important Dates

Background Information 

The goal behind starting a science fair at Dormont Elementary is to make science fun and to give students and their caregivers an opportunity to gain real world experience applying the Scientific Method in their everyday lives. 

The types of projects that the originators hope to see during our inaugural Science Fair are ones in which the students are asking why or how things are happening around them. We have selected the theme: Science in Your Back Yard: Investigate the Science of Dormont.

Science Fair Rules

This is a Family Science Fair. This means that caregivers are invited to collaborate with their students on projects. During the Fair, students will be interviewed and scored on how well they understand the project completed. Projects will be judged based on the following rubric, which helps to promote use of the Scientific Method from start to finish.
